Cancellation guide
How to cancel GitHub Copilot
Use this guide if Copilot appears as a recurring card charge and you want to stop the next billing cycle.
This guide was checked against GitHub Docs on July 3, 2026. GitHub may show different billing menus depending on whether your account uses the new or original billing platform.
Cancel a personal Copilot plan
- Sign in to GitHub.
- Open your profile picture menu and go to Settings.
- Open Billing & licensing, then the licensing or plan usage area.
- Find GitHub Copilot.
- Use Manage subscription, then choose Cancel subscription.
- Confirm the cancellation for your Copilot plan.
If Copilot is through an organization
Organization-owned Copilot access is managed by organization owners. GitHub says Copilot Business cancellation requires removing assigned seats. If your employer manages your access, you may not see a personal subscription to cancel.
Before you cancel
- Check whether the charge is personal or organization-owned.
- Download invoices if you need reimbursement records.
- Add the next renewal date to Spendloop and verify there is no new charge after cancellation.
